Youth Initiatives Small Grant (YISG): Grants award ceremony

The PtY Ghana programme is being implemented by 4 consortium partners with Norsaac leading and YAG, Songtaba and Gh Alliance as implementing partners.

The programme which begun in 2021 is in its second year of implementation; working to empower Adolescent girls and Young Women (AGYW) human rights especially, ones relating to SGBVs Harmful practices and reproductive Health issues.

As part of the strategies to establish, strengthen and sustain youth led initiatives, the PtY programme reached out to youth-led and women-led/focused groups and organizations operating within the PtY districts and focusing on any or all the three key issues (harmful practices, SGBVs and unintended practices) to partner with the team to implement well-tailored strategies and activities that have the tendency to give a rapid result.

The selected groups which met the programme criteria for selection were invited to the award ceremony which was held at Nim Avenue in Tamale on the 7th of July 2022 to orient and award selected youth-led and women-led groups/organizations around youth engagement strategy, social norms and gender transformative strategy, building synergy and working with other CSOs and advocacy focus.

To further meet the financial requirements and documentations of the programme, the grantees were taken through the grants requirements and timelines, financial documentation, reporting, deliverables and the visibility plan among other key areas.

A total amount of Two Hundred and Seventy-Eight Thousand  (GHC278,000.00) Ghana cedis were awarded to 10 youth-led groups for implementation.

The groups and organizations will however receive their contracted sum in at least two trenches to ensure efficiency.
