Minister of International Development, Government of Canada and his delegation participates in Adolescent-led Mural Painting at the Nyankpala Health Center

The Nyankpala health Center is located in Nyankpala community in the Tolon district of the Northern region. It shares boundaries with Sagnarigu Municipal, Kumbungu district, Central Gonja district and Tolon sub district.

The high profile delegation upon safe arrival was received and welcomed by the Regional Director of Health Services and District Director of Health Services. The Delegation with the regional and district team visited the Maternity Block of the Health Center where discussions centered around antenatal care services and nutritional counseling for pregnant women.

In the Cold Room, the delegation assessed the Cold Chain equipment in the midst of power outages and how best to sustain the cold in the equipment. Also, the Covid-19 vaccination center was assessed and how best to reach out to more.

The Adolescent Corner is a designated room in the Health Center which provides adolescents Health Services to adolescents in the Nyankpala sub district and its neighboring communities.  The Delegation and Team therefore visited the Adolescent Corner supported by Norsaac through UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage in Ghana to assess the adolescent services provided to adolescents. The services rendered to adolescents in the corner include Counselling, Girls Iron Folic Tablets (GIFTS) and Safety Net. The Delegation and Team interacted with the few adolescents in the corner.

As the adolescents led a mural painting behind the CWC building of the Health Center, the delegation and Team visited there where they participated to complete the Mural Painting and supported the community key stakeholders to sign (palm print beside the painting) to the chosen theme by the adolescents to “Stop Teenage Pregnancy” in the community and the district as a whole.
