The Conference Room
On February 7th 2012 NORSAAC launched the report “Youth and Sexuality: The Ideal Orientation” at Tamale Sports Stadium. An estimated 400 people attended the conference and listened to the presentations. These presentations all revolved around the research findings, areas of concern and general recommendations from the report.
‘Youth and Sexuality: The Ideal Orientation” is the culmination of 3 years of hard work and cooperation between NORSAAC and Axis. 1600 young ghanians between the age of 13 and 25 years, have all answered an elaborate questionnaire about their personal experiences and knowledge concerning STI’s (Sexually Transmitted Infections), sexuality, contraception and information about sexuality. The questionnaires were carried out in the 6 northern districts; Tamale, Central Gonja, West Mamprusi, Karaga, Saboba and Savelugu/Nanton.
In total 7 reports were launched at the conference: A general report stating the research and results from the entire northern region, along with six separate reports specifically designed for the individual districts. These reports solely document the findings from the young people of that specific district. All reports can be downloaded from the NORSAAC site.
Hopefully these reports can be useful for advocacy, youth focused development interventions, results-oriented decision-making and adolescent reproductive health education.
